Summer time
Warm muggy air
Warm sand sliding through my toes
Cool ocean waves reach the shore
Lazy days
Humid days
Dog days
Long days
Trip planning and family time
Long drives to no where in particular
Writing is coolant for the mind at any time
but I love it in the summer time.

Not bad for a first attempt! You must have read a good amount of poetry as your formatting is pretty good. My only suggestion involves the "writing is coolant for the mind" metaphor. Although it is a good metaphor, it is unrelated to anything else in the poem. The rest of the poem is not about writing, so it has no connection to the rest. It stood out to me as being out of place.
